About the Authors



James Stewart

The late James Stewart received his M.S. from Stanford University and his Ph.D. from the University of Toronto. He did research at the University of London and was influenced by the famous mathematician George Polya at Stanford University. Stewart was most recently Professor of Mathematics at McMaster University, and his research field was harmonic analysis. Stewart was the author of a best-selling calculus textbook series published by Cengage Learning, including CALCULUS, CALCULUS: EARLY TRANSCENDENTALS, and CALCULUS: CONCEPTS AND CONTEXTS, as well as a series of precalculus texts.

Saleem Watson

Saleem Watson is a Professor of Mathematics at California State University, Long Beach, specializing in the field of Functional Analysis. He received his Bachelor of Science degree from Andrews University in Michigan and did graduate studies at Dalhousie University and McMaster University, where he received his Ph.D. Watson co-authored the best-selling Precalculus: Mathematics for Calculus with Stewart and Redlin.




Daniel Clegg

Daniel Clegg is a Professor of Mathematics at Palomar College. He received his B.A. in Mathematics from California State University, Fullerton and his M.A. in Mathematics from UCLA. He assisted Stewart with various aspects of his calculus texts and is the co-author with Stewart of the textbook, Brief Applied Calculus.
